Tony Louw

Managing Director

As founder and managing director of Learning Strategies, Tony Louw is responsible for directing all areas of service delivery as well as working hands-on with children, adolescents, adults, and families affected by a wide range of behavioral health difficulties. In addition to the direct support and intervention that he delivers to clients as a practitioner, Tony is responsible for leading all areas of organizational development: assessment and curriculum design, client management systems, community training, and in-house professional development and mentoring.

Tony has been working in the field of psychology since 2003, in clinical and community-based settings across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. As a practitioner, Tony is experienced in implementing a range of evidence-based practices to evaluate client needs and to design and deliver interventions to meet those needs. Tony’s experience includes working with individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, language impairments, learning difficulties, addiction, eating disorders, as well as individuals at risk of self-harm and suicide.

Tony holds two master’s degrees, both at distinction level, from the University of Glasgow (Social Science) and the University of Liverpool (Psychology) in the UK, and is board certified as a Qualified Behavior Analyst through the QABA. Tony also advises as a member of the International Standards Committee for the QABA, the Industry Advisory Committee for RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute for Technology) in Ho Chi Minh City, and is a lecturer in autism and applied behavior analysis at Fulbright University, Ho Chi Minh City. Tony also co-chairs Impact in partnership with RMIT, providing ongoing professional development opportunities for educational and behavioral health professionals in Vietnam.

Learning Strategies – Internship Programme

Learning Strategies (LS) offers a challenging and compelling Internship Training Programme for graduates and soon-to-be graduates in the field of education and mental health. The Programme is practical and hands-on and includes performance evaluation designed to support practicum learning and differentiate candidates on the basis of their capability and commitment. LS believes this prepares Interns for the requirements and demands of a career in mental health practice. The Programme is an initial stage of a continuous process of in-house learning and training that is at the core of LS approach to skills development and professional practice.

The Programme is managed out of the Learning Strategies Institute which was established in 2020 with a dedicated team to focus and systematize all training programmes within Learning Strategies and to support external training.
